Posted 02-27-2008I am the husband and father of a family living in the Midwest. Our goal is to live life in an ever-more God-pleasing manner. Philippians 1:6 assures us that we can pursue this goal with confidence because:
"...God, who began this good work in you, will carry it on until it is finished...." (Good News Bible)
Our Purpose
We believe our purpose is to promote the healing of the world by living redemptive lives (tikkun olam), and in so doing, bring deserved glory to God.
"Do not think that I came to abrogate the Torah and the Prophets! I came not to abrogate - rather to fulfill. Surely, I say to you, until the time when the heaven and the earth pass, not even a dot nor stroke shall pass from the Torah until the time when all things are fulfilled.
Whoever, therefore, breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men thus - 'least', he will be called in the kingdom of the heavens; but whoever does and teaches - this one will be called 'great' in the kingdom of the heavens.
For I say to you that except your righteousness excels the scribes and the Pharisees, you will definitely not enter into the kingdom of the heavens." Matthew 5:17-20 (TEB)
A Scripture passage that we believe has been oft neglected and regularly misunderstood is:
"Everyone who practices sin also practices Torah-less-ness; indeed, sin is Torah-less-ness. And you know that Yeshua was revealed to take away sin, and in Him there is no sin. Everyone who resides in Him practices Torah-living; everyone who violates Torah has neither seen Him nor known Him."
"Little children, let no one deceive you: the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as Yeshua is righteous. The one who practices Torah-less-ness is of the devil, because the devil has been anti-Torah from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was revealed: to destroy the works of the devil. Everyone who is fathered by God does not practice Torah-less-ness, because God's seed resides in him, and thus he is not able to violate Torah, because he has been fathered by God. By this the children of God and the children of the devil are revealed: Everyone who does not practice righteousness -the one who does not love his fellow Christian-is not of God. For this is the gospel message that you have heard from the beginning: that we should love one another,"
"Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue but in deed and truth. And by this we will know that we are of the truth?. Dear friends, if our conscience does not condemn us, we have confidence in the presence of God, and whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing to Him. Now this is His commandment: that we believe in the name of his Son, Messiah Yeshua, and love one another, just as He gave us the commandment. And the person who keeps His commandments resides in God, and God in him. Now by this we know that God resides in us: by the Spirit He has given us." 1 John 3:4-11, 18-24 (modified NET)
